San Jose Senior Portraits | Celebrating Gabby’s Senior Year
Today I’m excited to share a few favorites from Gabby’s San Jose senior portraits session! Gabby is a senior at Lincoln High School in San Jose and one of my 2020 Amy Drake Photography Senior Ambassadors. She’s an incredibly talented triple threat—a singer, actor, and dancer—and was recently cast as Mrs. Wormwood in Lincoln High School’s production of Matilda the Musical. Her creativity and confidence made every moment of this session so much fun.
What made this session even more special is that I’ve been photographing Gabby since she was about four years old. If you ever visited my warehouse studio, you might remember the playful black-and-white portrait of a mom with her two daughters that hung in my office for years. So many clients commented on that canvas, and one of those little girls was Gabby. Watching her grow from a young child into a confident high school senior has been such a privilege, and capturing her San Jose senior portraits felt like a full-circle moment.
These images were taken during her Senior Ambassador session near my current studio, where we explored a variety of colorful walls, interesting textures, and hidden corners that create unique backdrops. We even stumbled across a beautiful vintage car that added a little extra character to a few portraits. I love finding locations that give each senior gallery its own personality while keeping the focus on the student.
One of my favorite things about photographing seniors is showcasing who they are during this exciting season of life. Whether it’s through wardrobe choices, favorite locations, or subtle nods to their passions, every session is designed to feel authentic. Gabby’s love of performing arts shines through in her confidence, expressive personality, and natural ability to step in front of the camera.
