San Jose Senior Session | Sofia’s Downtown Senior Portraits

Meet Sofia! I’ve had the privilege of photographing her over the past four years as a member of the Presentation High School Dance Team, so it was especially meaningful to capture this milestone with a dedicated San Jose senior session. Sofia brings such a wonderful presence to every photo with her positive attitude, strength, and determination.

For her session, we explored the streets of downtown San Jose, taking advantage of the city’s unique blend of modern architecture, colorful murals, and urban textures. One of my favorite moments was photographing Sofia in her beautiful yellow dress against a soft gray-blue wall. The bold pop of color created a timeless, eye-catching look that perfectly complemented her personality.

One of the questions I hear most often is what to wear for a senior portrait session. While I often recommend avoiding busy patterns, that doesn’t mean you should shy away from color. Choosing outfits in colors that flatter your skin tone and hair color can make your portraits truly stand out. Sofia’s wardrobe was a perfect example of how thoughtful styling can elevate your images.
