OK, this is a bit overdue because I don’t really like talking about myself, so I’m going to put all of the focus on my beautiful model, KK. You may have seen this image before and many of her other images as she is all over my website and blog… This past February, I attended a national photography conference in Palm Springs, CA. The group, known as “SPA” – or Senior Portrait Artists, is an organization that focuses on helping photographers stay on the cutting edge of lighting, shooting, trends in the industry, etc, and is attended by several hundred photographers from around the country. One of the events that takes place is an image competition and I entered the image of KK, shown below. And it was a winner! This image placed in the Top Ten in the single image competition. I was thrilled! I believe it had very little to do with me, but more to do with KK’s great looks and willingness to go along with my crazy ideas. We shot this image last year and if I recall we were playing around with my brand new Quadra light (not so new anymore), and had drawn quite a crowd in the streets of San Jose. But KK was a trooper and stood there in the cold waiting for us to get everything set up just right. So, thank you, KK, without your radiance, I don’t think this image would have been half as good!
