Every session, like every client, is unique. Prior to your session, we’ll have an in-person or phone consultation to discuss expectations, clothing, props, hair and make-up, and other ideas you might have for your session. We make an effort to get to know you so that we can capture and highlight your personal style as best possible. Give serious thought to the type of image that will best fit your style, career goals and personality. What would you like to show off that would make someone choose you?

We will make an effort to get to know you so that we can capture and highlight your personality as best possible. During your session, I'll make you look beautiful and feel comfortable in front of the camera. So, you don’t know how to pose? No worries - I’ll give you plenty of guidance. I tend to steer away from stiff poses and formal backgrounds, so I’ll most likely situate you in such a way that natural expressions and positions are likely to occur. The end result is an amazing set of images that you'll be proud to share with friends and family.
Your session will be FUN. Depending on the location, we may meet at the studio or at our destination. We will spend the first 20 minutes or so sorting through the clothing and accessories you have brought with you. Do not stress about posing - we give you plenty of direction and play little games to make you feel comfortable. RELAX - these are no rush sessions. We usually spend 2-3 hours together, creating a wide variety of images. The end result is an amazing set of images that you’ll be proud to share with friends and family.
Believe it or not, your session will be a fun experience! We know it can feel awkward to be in front of a camera, and we are very good at working with our clients to put them at ease. Take a second and read our testimonials and reviews - many people speak to this and we take great pride in making our clients feel comfortable during their session. For some people a 15 minute session is enough and for others it might take an hour and a bit. We will shoot until we are both happy!

Choose clothing that represents your desired image and flattering colors that complement your hair and skin tones. How do you want to come across? Consider a suit jacket if you’d like a more professional, tailored look. Avoid busy prints, logos and bright white as they distract from the face. Avoid a white shirt under a suit jacket - go for a color instead. Repeating your eye color, particularly if you have blue or green eyes, always looks amazing! Consider necklines that work with your body shape and hairstyle. Fitted, tailored clothing generally looks better than blousy, baggier clothing. If you choose to wear a button-down shirt, we suggest layering a jacket or sweater on top as a button-down alone can look wrinkled and boxy. Men, wear v-neck undershirts or no undershirt at all so it does not show. Ladies, if you don’t love your arms in pictures, avoid wearing sleeveless shirts! Executive headshots tend to look better without bare arms. The general rule of thumb is not to wear anything that would distract from your face!
We suggest you plan four to six outfits. Think about choosing clothes that repeat your eye color, especially a long sleeve shirt or sweater. We often recommend clothing that has texture, such as knitting, embroidery, dark faded denim, buttons, & ruffles. This type of clothing tends to photograph well and adds a lot of visual interest. Don’t forget jackets, scarves, fur hoods, etc. We live in California and often forget about jackets, but they add variety and texture to your images. Girls, if you have a great prom, bridesmaid, or other formal dress, bring it! Shorter dresses limit our poses, so try to think of fuller, longer dresses you might have stashed away. Then add your favorite pair of jeans, tee and cool hat. Guys, pack a dress shirt and a tie in addition to your jeans and cool t-shirts. You get the idea! Feel free to send us images of your clothing prior to your session and we’ll help you choose!
We suggest you bring a wide assortment of leos, skirts, costumes, booty shorts, etc. We will provide you with a leo guide to help you choose the best leo for your body type. We also have a wardrobe closet at the studio full of colorful skirts, layering items and fabrics. Don’t forget moveable streetwear as it is a fun alternative to dance wear. Tights are not needed unless you are doing audition shots. Feel free to send us images of your clothing prior to your session and we’ll help you choose! With regard to pointe shoes, please take the time to make sure your shoes fit you properly and don’t restrict you from fully stretching your feet! We have seen many dancers who have beautiful feet hidden by improper pointe shoes.
Within one week of your session, we will provide you with an online gallery to view and select your images. You are always welcome to come in to the studio or set up a video chat so we can go over them together, discuss crops, retouching, etc. Delivery of the final images will depend on how many you select, retouching etc, but usually within 5-7 days. Our retouching is done to look natural. A rush fee of $100 will get you your images within 24 hours.
At the time of your session, we will schedule an ordering appointment for about 2-3 weeks after your session. Orders will take place in person at the studio or via a video chat so we can discuss crops, retouching, and other details that we find easier to move through in person. At the ordering appointment, we will sit down and view a slideshow of your images set to music. We will then revisit your favorite images and see how each would appear in various crops, layouts, etc

We do offer the high resolution image files for sale during your order appointment. We also provide you with web-ready logo images of any images your purchase in printed format to share on social media, smart phones, etc. We encourage our clients to order printed products in addition to image files as so many image files wind up trapped on computers and hard drives. Printed products allow you and your family to enjoy your images every day!
If you are doing a creative session, we offer a set of image files as one of our collections. Also, if you purchase a portfolio album or box, please note you will receive several web-ready image files with our watermark.
